1. pwd - Print Working Directory

The first thing you might ask yourself is “where am i ?” and pwd is your answer!

It stands for “print working directory”, it prints out the full path of the directory we are working on, And after finding out where you are, you might ask yourself “what’s in here ?“

2. ls - List

That’s where ls comes in, it stands for “list” and it just lists the files and folders, or directories, of the current working directory.

3. cp - Copy

Let’s say that after checking out what’s in the directory, you want to copy a file. cp which stands for “copy” is what you would use.

4. mkdir - Make Directory

But actually, I want the new file to be inside a folder called “backup”. To create a new directory or folder you use mkdir, it stands for “make directory”.

5. mv - Move

Now to move the copy into the folder, we use mv which stands for “move”.

6. cd - Change Directory

To check what’s inside the backup folder, we can either ls backup to list the content of the backup folder OR, cd which stands for “change directory” to backup then list it’s content using ls.

7. rm - Remove

But I don’t want to keep this file anymore so let’s delete it using rm which stands, as you can already tell, for “remove”.

And here we go! it got deleted

That’s our 7 linux commands!

Hope this helps, See ya!
